#6 Super foods ~ Tomato!
The amazing properties of red foods never stop amazing me! TOMATO is definitely one of the super foods of the world! As an European im very used to tomatoes and its part of my diet, both raw and cooked. Here i explain the health benefits of eating cooked tomatoes as well as raw.
Tomatoes antioxidant is not a surprised, as it is a red food. It`s high levels of beta-carotene help our immune system and the benefits to the tissue lining as skin are undeniable! Very rich on Potassium, the antioxidant flavonoids, vitamin E, Vitamin C, rich on fiber, promote the heart and health in general.
Now, the benefits from eating it cooked: one of the antioxidants is lycopene (which is responsible for the reddish color),; this substance kills cancer because it neutralizes the free radicals. It can kill more free radicals than beta-carotene! lycopene is soluble in oil, so If cooked, specially cooked on olive oil, makes an easy and concentrated way to be absorbed by the body.
Tomatoes are fruit! but poor on sugar and very poor on salt! They help prevent all kind of cancer diseases. Raw, on salads or sandwiches or even tasted as a juicy piece of fruit! Cooked on a lovely sauce or any kind of dish… tomato is super healthy! There is no need to complicate, therefore no need for excuses not to eat tomatoes! They aren`t expensive nor you need any special shop to buy them. You can even grow them easily on your balcony or window near places.
